19 years old, male – The beauty of Cambodia. (Phnom Penh-Cambodia)

Welcome to Cambodia

Cambodia is attracting an increasing number of travelers. The majority come for the beauty of the country. Many are shocked by poverty and the situation of Cambodia’s over 20.000 children living and working on the streets. These children are at high risk of being abused and travelers unwillingly and unknowingly often increase their vulnerability.

On this website, we are pleased to introduce ChildSafe to you. But more importantly, we also tell YOU how to become ChildSafe yourself.

ChildSafe Network

Every day, all over Cambodia, more and more moto taxi and taxi drivers, hotels and guesthouses, restaurants and internet café owners are collaborating with our ChildSafe network in all tourist areas, including Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville and Siem Reap (Angkor) to refuse to condone sex with children and to learn how to protect children from all kinds of risk situations.

Local magazines can be ChildSafe if they agree not to advertise places or contents which are particular dangerous for children and if they have a special listing which promotes ChildSafe venues.

Travel agents and tour operators cooperate with the ChildSafe campaign – tour guides and leaders are trained to pass on ChildSafe traveler information to their customers.

Please check the following pages for a full list of our ChildSafe network members. Look out for the ChildSafe logo while you travel. Please use their services and help our members to protect children in Cambodia.

ChildSafe Hotline 012 – 311 112

The ChildSafe Hotline is one of the most important tools of ChildSafe: members, partners, travelers – everyone can call the hotline 24 hours / 7 days a week to report if s/he has seen a child in a risk situation. Whenever possible we ask the caller to stay near the child until our team arrives to take appropriate action to protect the child.
To report a case in Siem Reap, you can call to the ChildSafe hotline Siem Reap:
017 358 758

To report sexual abuse or trafficking, you can also call directly to the nation wide police hotline: 023 997 919

ChildSafe Center

In June 2007, the first ChildSafe Information and Referral Center opened in Phnom Penh. The center is open to anyone interested in the ChildSafe program, but particularly for ChildSafe members to receive refresher trainings, materials, English and Road Safety Classes and for travelers (tourists and business travelers) to learn more about street children and how they can protect them during their journey.

The center is open 24 hours, 7 days per week as a safe haven for children at risk of abuse to seek immediate support and referral to appropriate services (e.g. counseling, reintegration to their family, police and legal complaints, medical assistance, remedial education, vocational training etc.)

The ChildSafe Center is located near Romdeng Restaurant, at #74, Street 174, Sangkat Phsar Thmey III, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.
