ChildSafe Organizations

Implementation of the ChildSafe Program by NGOs
ChildSafe can be implemented by other organizations with the technical advice (training, development of materials etc.) of Friends-International. An organization implementing ChildSafe should also be a member of the Street Children Network. An NGO implementing ChildSafe will then carry out the entire ChildSafe process of selecting, training, testing, certifying, promoting and monitoring new ChildSafe members (such as taxis, hotels etc.). The members will be promoted on the ChildSafe website.

Nevertheless, the ChildSafe name, logo and website are property of Friends-International. A contract is written between Friends-International and the implementing organization which clearly states ChildSafe regulations and responsibilities on both sites.

ChildSafe Certified Products
Products produced within projects of other organizations or individuals can be certified ChildSafe if all standards for ChildSafe Certified Products are fulfilled. Among these standards are:
  • no child labor
  • produced by parents so children can go to school
  • produced by youth in training so they can find employment
  • clear division of profits and accountability
  • sustainability of the project
  • regular reporting about the project to Friends-International
Outlets selling ChildSafe Certified Products as well as the certification logo itself are promoted on the ChildSafe website.
